New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers continues to make progress in his recovery, though he is scheduled to miss Thursday’s practice as he remains in concussion protocol, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Nabers’ availability is still uncertain as the Giants prepare for their upcoming road game against the Seattle Seahawks. Daboll noted that the team will take as much time as necessary before making a final decision regarding Nabers’ status for the game.

The Giants (1-3) are set to travel to Seattle on Saturday, one day before their matchup against the Seahawks (3-1). With Nabers’ status in question, the team is considering other options for filling the gap left by his potential absence.

In addition to Nabers, the Giants are also dealing with other injury concerns. Running back Devin Singletary will not participate in Thursday’s practice due to a groin injury, while cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson and Dru Phillips will be limited in practice as they recover from calf injuries. These injuries add further complications for the Giants as they aim to rebound from a slow start to the season.

Nabers suffered his injury during a key moment in the Giants’ recent 20-15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. With 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the game, Nabers was attempting to make a critical catch on a fourth-and-6 play along the sideline. As he came down, his head hit the ground facemask-first, leading to his current concussion issues. The rookie wideout has since been following the NFL’s concussion protocol to ensure his full recovery before returning to the field.

Despite this setback, Nabers has been a standout player for the Giants so far this season. In just four games, he has recorded a league-leading 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns, demonstrating the talent that made him the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU. His absence would be a significant blow to the Giants’ offense, which has relied heavily on his playmaking ability.

If Nabers is unable to play against the Seahawks, fellow wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton are expected to step up and fill the void. Both players will need to elevate their performances to help the Giants compete against a strong Seattle team. As the Giants continue their preparations, all eyes will be on Nabers’ progress and the team’s decision regarding his availability for the crucial Week 5 matchup.
