The Philadelphia Eagles are facing a clear need at the linebacker position, especially after parting ways with Devin White, who had been expected to play a key role this season. White, a former Pro Bowler, was brought in with hopes of solidifying the defense, but things didn’t pan out as planned. His recent release from the team has left a gap that the Eagles need to fill as they aim to improve their overall defense.

Despite White’s departure, the Eagles are far from being set at the linebacker spot, and there are continued efforts to find suitable replacements to strengthen the unit. One name that has emerged as a possible solution is former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jabril Cox. According to FanSided’s Richard Louis, Cox could be a valuable addition to the Eagles’ roster. While Cox has struggled to make a significant impact so far in his NFL career, having logged just 10 tackles during his time with the Cowboys and Washington Commanders, he possesses the physical traits that could make him an effective player if given the right opportunity.

Cox, a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has appeared in 26 games over three seasons but has yet to fully showcase his potential. Despite his limited production, his athleticism and physical abilities make him a player worth considering for the Eagles, especially given their shaky linebacker play this season. In fact, the Eagles recently promoted Jeremiah Trotter Jr. to the backup MIKE linebacker role, signaling their awareness of the need for improvement at the position.

With Cox holding workouts for teams in the near future, it would be prudent for the Eagles to attend and evaluate how he performs. Adding Cox to the roster could provide the Eagles with a low-risk, high-reward option to bolster their linebacker depth. While Cox hasn’t yet made a major mark in the NFL, the Eagles could offer him the environment and coaching needed to reach his full potential.

Ultimately, the Eagles’ linebacker position remains a work in progress, and Cox could be one of several options the team explores as it looks to shore up its defense for the rest of the season.
