The Philadelphia Eagles are currently struggling with a series of injuries, further impacting their offensive performance. Most notably, tight end Dallas Goedert, who had been stepping up for the team during the absence of star receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, will now be sidelined due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the Eagles’ Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns. Goedert, who had been putting up career numbers, was forced to leave the game early, and according to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, he is expected to miss several weeks.
Before his injury, Goedert had tallied 24 receptions for 301 receiving yards across the first five games of the season. His performance was on track for a potentially record-breaking season, with an average of 75.25 yards per game, setting him up for over 1,200 receiving yards by the end of the year. This production was critical for the Eagles’ offense, especially with Brown and Smith missing time earlier in the season.
With Goedert’s absence, the Eagles will have to rely on their now-returning wide receivers, Brown and Smith, to carry a larger load in the passing game. Additionally, veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah has been brought back into the lineup, and he may play a more significant role in filling the gap left by Goedert.
Although Philadelphia has dealt with significant injuries to key offensive players, including Goedert, the team will look to maintain momentum as they await his return. His absence will undoubtedly be felt, especially given his role as a consistent and reliable target over the middle of the field. However, the Eagles are hopeful that Goedert will recover quickly and rejoin the team to continue his productive season.
