The Tennessee Titans have started the season with a 1-4 record, placing them in a potential seller’s position as the NFL trade deadline on November 5 approaches. This situation has led to speculation about whether the Titans will consider trading veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, particularly after other star wideouts like Davante Adams and Amari Cooper were traded to the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, respectively.
Hopkins, 32, has not had a standout season so far, with just 14 catches for 175 yards and one touchdown through five games. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, some believe it would be prudent for the Titans to entertain trade offers for Hopkins to potentially gain assets more valuable than a compensatory draft pick.
Despite the swirling trade rumors, Hopkins seems unbothered by the speculation. In an interview, he expressed his focus on the upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills, saying, “I’ve been playing for a long time. My mind is very much set on Buffalo this week.” Hopkins also reiterated his satisfaction with his current situation, noting, “I love my life. I love where I am. God put me where I need to be, and He always will. I play football.”
There is a possibility that Hopkins could re-sign with the Titans after the season, which might make a trade unnecessary. The veteran receiver has been traded before in a controversial deal in 2020 when the Houston Texans sent him to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for running back David Johnson and a second-round pick—a move widely criticized for the lack of return Houston received.
Now, with the Titans, Hopkins seems to have found a place where he feels valued and comfortable. His current mindset suggests that he is content with staying in Tennessee, potentially making a trade less likely, though the team may still weigh its options if attractive offers come their way.
