The Philadelphia Eagles received a major boost just a day before their NFC East matchup against the Washington Commanders with the return of star left tackle Jordan Mailata. The team opened Mailata’s practice window earlier in the week and has now activated him to the 53-man roster, paving the way for him to start in Thursday night’s game. Riding a five-game winning streak, Mailata expressed his eagerness to contribute, emphasizing that he doesn’t want to be the reason the team falters: “I just don’t want to be the reason that we lose. This streak is awesome. I’m very eager. If the opportunity comes this week, I’ll be there.”

Mailata had been sidelined for four weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the Eagles’ 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns in October. In his absence, backup Fred Johnson filled in capably at left tackle, with Mailata providing support from the sideline. Now, with Mailata’s return, the Eagles have reassembled their projected starting offensive line, a crucial advantage as they face a Commanders defense ranked fifth in the league against the pass.

In a matchup with significant implications for the NFC East, the return of key players like Mailata is essential. His presence will be especially valuable in protecting quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is undoubtedly pleased to have his left tackle back on the field.
