Auburn Tigers wide receiver Camden Brown has become the latest player to enter the transfer portal, marking the sixth departure from Auburn’s roster since the conclusion of their 2024 season. Brown shared the news through his Instagram story, expressing gratitude for his time at Auburn while announcing his decision to seek a new opportunity.
“I couldn’t have asked to be around a better group these last three years,” Brown wrote. “I’m blessed to know that I have made friendships and connections that will last a lifetime, and for that, I’m grateful. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal.”
Brown, a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida native, played three seasons with the Tigers, appearing in all 37 games and starting six. During his Auburn career, he recorded 26 receptions for 289 yards and three touchdowns. He was a three-star recruit and ranked No. 435 nationally in the 2022 class by 247Sports. Among the 18 recruits in Auburn’s 2022 class, Brown was ranked 14th but quickly made his presence known, contributing nine catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns during his freshman season.
As time progressed, Brown’s role in the offense diminished. Competing with players like Ja’Varrius Johnson, Koy Moore, Jay Fair, and later newcomers KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Cam Coleman, and Malcolm Simmons, Brown found himself slipping down the depth chart. In his final eight games at Auburn, he managed just two catches, signaling his reduced involvement in the team’s rotation.
Despite being a less-heralded prospect coming out of high school, Brown’s ability to consistently contribute over three seasons is a testament to his perseverance and development. Both Brown and the Auburn program can take pride in his efforts during his time with the Tigers.
Brown now joins a growing list of Auburn players seeking new opportunities via the transfer portal. Quarterback Holden Geriner, tight end Micah Riley, offensive lineman E.J. Harris, defensive lineman Gage Keys, and punter Gabe Russo have also announced their intentions to transfer. As Auburn moves into the offseason, these departures highlight the ongoing roster changes under head coach Hugh Freeze’s leadership, with an eye on player development and new additions to bolster the team for the future.
