Defensive tackle Kalia Davis of the San Francisco 49ers was ruled out of Sunday’s Super Bowl XVIII in Las Vegas against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team said on Saturday. Davis was classified as questionable on Friday’s injury report due to an ankle ailment. Throughout the week, he participated in every practice. This season, Davis, 25, participated in three San Francisco regular-season games. He was hurt on December 17 against the Arizona Cardinals and hasn’t been able to play since.
On Saturday, the 49ers also promoted T.Y. McGill and Alex Barrett, two defensive linemen, from the practice squad. Barrett, 29, last participated in an NFL game when playing for the 49ers in 2020. The 31-year-old McGill participated in two San Francisco games this year.
