Kalen DeBoer has added another member to his coaching staff at Alabama, with reports indicating that Colin Hitschler, who previously served as Wisconsin’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach, will be joining the Crimson Tide. This move was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Hitschler had spent the previous season at Wisconsin under Luke Fickell’s coaching staff, following a trajectory that began in 2018 when he joined Fickell at Cincinnati. Over the years, he worked his way up from a defensive analyst to co-defensive coordinator.
Colin Hitschler, having previously collaborated with Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack during their time at South Alabama from 2016 to 2017, is now set to join the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff. His role within the staff remains unspecified at this point. With experience as a defensive analyst and safeties coach at South Alabama, Hitschler may potentially contribute to coaching linebackers or specialize in handling either safeties or cornerbacks for Alabama. The coaching staff also includes defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, secondary coach Maurice Linguist, and defensive line coach Freddie Roach.
