Over the weekend, Baylor secured a significant addition to its roster for the 2024-25 season as former Duke standout Jeremy Roach announced his commitment to the Bears.
While Roach is considering entering the 2024 NBA Draft, he is not currently projected as a first-round pick and is expected to receive lucrative opportunities through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals as one of the top transfers in the cycle.
Roach, ranked fourth in the CBS Sports Transfer Rankings, brings considerable experience, having started for four seasons with the Blue Devils under both Mike Krzyzewski and Jon Scheyer.
His addition to Baylor fills the void left by RayJ Dennis, who contributed 13.6 points and 6.7 assists per game for the Bears in the 2023-24 season. Like Dennis, who transferred from Toledo, Roach joins Baylor as a one-year rental, utilizing his final season of eligibility.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, Roach adds veteran leadership to a roster that includes three top-50 prospects from the Class of 2024. With previous appearances in the 2022 Final Four and the 2024 Elite Eight with Duke, Roach brings valuable postseason experience to Baylor.
This experience is particularly beneficial for the Bears, who have exited the NCAA Tournament in the second round for the past three seasons following their national championship win in 2021.
As the spring transfer portal window closes on May 1, players seeking to transfer have limited time to declare their intentions. However, those who enter the portal by this deadline are not bound by a firm commitment date to their new school.
Additionally, individuals exploring the NBA Draft process have until May 29 to withdraw if they opt to return to college for the next season.
