Carlton forward Corey Durdin has inked a two-year contract extension, ensuring his tenure with the Blues until the culmination of the 2026 season. Since his selection as Pick 37 in the 2020 draft, the 22-year-old has amassed 40 appearances for Carlton.
Durdin made his debut in Round 21 of the 2021 season and enjoyed a standout performance in 2022. However, his progress was hindered last year due to several injuries, limiting him to just 11 games.
Despite the setbacks, Durdin has demonstrated his prowess on the field, netting 32 goals thus far in his career.
He has been a consistent presence for the Blues this season, missing only one game, and is renowned for his exceptional forward pressure. Notably, in Round 5, he tallied a career-high eight tackles during Carlton’s victory over Fremantle.
Nick Austin, the Head of List Management at Carlton, expressed his enthusiasm for Durdin’s continued journey with the club. “Corey has already showcased his potential to thrive in the elite system,” Austin remarked in a statement released by the club.
“He is a dynamic small-forward who exhibits a genuine passion and tenacity, making him both an exciting player to watch and a valuable asset to his teammates.”
“Furthermore, his strength and relentless pressure on opponents position him as a potential fixture in the AFL arena. Beyond his on-field capabilities, Corey’s dedication to fostering connections within the club, from fellow players to staff, is commendable, particularly considering his youth.
“We anticipate witnessing Corey’s continued growth and refinement at the elite level in the seasons ahead.”
Durdin’s impending 50-game milestone underscores his consistency and noteworthy contributions throughout his career to date, validating the decision to extend his contract.
