TJ Wilcox is gearing up to attend Clemson’s camp for the third consecutive summer, scheduled for June 4th. As he prepares for his senior season at Buford High School in Georgia, Wilcox aims to demonstrate his growth as a quarterback and establish stronger connections with the coaching staff, particularly head coach Dabo Swinney.
“I really want to showcase my talent to the coaches who will be there and hopefully get a chance to speak with coach Dabo,” Wilcox shared with The Clemson Insider. “I’ve been drawing closer to my faith, and I admire the values he instills. He addresses us as individuals, not just players.”
Having recently transferred to Buford, where fellow commit Brayden Jacobs also attends, Wilcox recognizes the school’s exceptional preparation for college-level football. “Buford really prepares you for the collegiate level,” he emphasized. “From film analysis and playbook comprehension to strength training, it’s evident that they groom you for the next level.”
With offers from West Virginia, Delaware State, and Alabama State, along with interest from Air Force, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, and Cornell, Wilcox is eager to showcase his progress to Clemson, a program he’s been eyeing closely. “Clemson has been sending me graphics to my phone,” he mentioned. “I’m hoping to strengthen my ties with Clemson, which is why I’m returning to camp.”
Encouraged by positive feedback from Garrett Riley following last summer’s workout, Wilcox is eager to display his improvements. “He expressed his admiration for my skills,” Wilcox recalled. “I’m hopeful that after this camp, we can engage in further conversations and develop our relationship throughout my senior year.”
While Wilcox hopes to make a decision before his final high school season begins, he prioritizes finding a program that aligns with his playing style and fosters a strong rapport with the coaching staff.
“I want to attend a school that suits my abilities and where I feel valued and respected by the coaches,” he emphasized. “I’m not interested in choosing a school based solely on its reputation. I want to find a place where I can truly shine and showcase my skills.”
