The Montreal Alouettes released 20 players, including wide receiver Tevin Jones, while adding 12 players to the practice squad and suspending two players returning to school on Saturday.
Tevin Jones, who stands six foot two and weighs 225 pounds, hails from Amory, Mississippi. The 31-year-old signed with the Alouettes on February 7, 2024. He participated in one preseason game against the Toronto Argonauts, recording two catches for six yards.
Jones initially signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2019, he played five NFL regular-season games for the Steelers, making four catches for 61 yards.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Jones as a free agent on April 21, 2022. During the 2022 season, he made 20 catches for 265 yards, three touchdowns, and had three kick returns for 49 yards in 14 games. In 2023, Jones recorded 65 catches for 882 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games.
In college, Jones played five seasons at Memphis (2011-2015), accumulating 90 catches for 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had 22 carries for 89 yards and two touchdowns, plus one touchdown on a blocked punt, over 51 games for the Tigers.
