Michigan football is a leading contender in the recruitment of four-star wide receiver Taz Williams. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound receiver from Red Oak, Texas, visited Ann Arbor this spring and is scheduled for an official visit this summer.
According to the On3 prediction machine, Michigan football is currently the frontrunner. Although Ohio State was initially in contention, the Buckeyes are no longer in the running. Williams told Marshall Levenson of Rivals that he will announce his commitment on July 13th, choosing between Michigan, Texas A&M, SMU, and Penn State.
### Where Michigan Football Stands with Taz Williams
Williams is ranked No. 293 overall in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Alabama and Ohio State were initially scheduled for official visits, but since those teams are no longer in his top four, it’s unlikely he’ll visit them.

Williams will have official visits to Penn State and Texas A&M, with Michigan football hosting him for the final visit. Having the last visit can sometimes be advantageous, though its impact can vary.
Michigan is also in the mix for other top wide receiver targets such as Quincy Porter and Derek Meadows, who visited Ann Arbor this past weekend. Williams, however, is a dynamic talent. Last season, he caught 80 passes for 1,251 yards and 14 touchdowns.
