Michigan’s football program has secured its first commitment for the 2026 recruiting class with Cocoa (Fla.) four-star quarterback Brady Hart. Hart announced his verbal pledge to the Wolverines in a social media post on Tuesday, following an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor.
Hart, a highly regarded prospect, stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 180 pounds. He is ranked as the No. 92 overall player and the No. 7 quarterback in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He received 28 offers from notable programs including Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Penn State, LSU, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M, with Ohio State offering him on Monday.
Michigan offered Hart in April after seeing him perform at the Elite 11 quarterback camp regional in Orlando. This commitment marks the second consecutive cycle Michigan has landed a Florida quarterback, following Fort Myers Bishop Verot four-star Carter Smith, who committed to the 2025 class last November.
As a sophomore, Hart passed for 3,759 yards and 41 touchdowns, leading his team to a state title. He is Michigan’s first top-100 quarterback commit since J.J. McCarthy.
“Modern pocket passer with a favorable frame,” wrote 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins in his scouting report. “More of a drive-ball thrower who can generate plenty of power by syncing up his arm and plant foot. Owns a bit of an elongated release but can get the ball out quickly, which is necessary in a wide-open spread attack that challenges horizontally with swing/screen passes. First caught our eye in a matchup against nationally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas, where he made several tight-line throws and exploited coverage. Also impressed with his timing as he frequently hit his marks on schedule.”
