The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox are experiencing vastly different 2024 seasons. The Dodgers are serious World Series contenders with one of MLB’s best rosters, while the White Sox hold the worst record in baseball and are on pace for a historically high number of losses.
Given their contrasting situations, a trade partnership ahead of the deadline makes sense. The Dodgers are looking to buy, and the White Sox have valuable assets to sell.
MLB analyst Jim Bowden of The Athletic has suggested a blockbuster 10-player trade between the two teams. This proposed deal would significantly impact the league.
“This would be an industry shocker — a 10-player trade! — that would put the Dodgers in a much better position to run the table in the postseason and would jump-start the White Sox’s rebuild,” Bowden wrote. “The Dodgers have a loaded farm system and the major-league roster to win it all now, so why not finish the job with one mammoth blockbuster deal?” (H/T Heavy)
The proposal involves the Dodgers acquiring center fielder Luis Robert Jr., starting pitcher Garrett Crochet, and reliever Michael Kopech from the White Sox.
In exchange, the White Sox would receive a significant haul of players: current major leaguer Andy Pages, and prospects Dalton Rushing, Nick Frasso, Kyle Hurt, Payton Martin, Justin Wrobleski, and Emil Morales.
These prospects are highly regarded within the Dodgers’ system, with Rushing ranked No. 1, and Frasso and Hurt both in the top 10.
Such a trade would significantly bolster the White Sox’s farm system, providing them with high-upside players who could reach the major leagues soon.
For the Dodgers, adding Robert, Crochet, and Kopech would enhance an already strong roster. These players can be key contributors not only this season but also in the future, as they are under team control through 2027, 2026, and 2025, respectively.
