During Wednesday night’s 7-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox reliever Chris Martin made his return to action after being sidelined due to anxiety. Martin entered the game in the ninth inning with a four-run lead. Though it wasn’t a high-pressure situation, he faced a challenge with one out and a runner on base when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. came to the plate. Guerrero Jr. hit a chopper over Martin’s head, but Martin managed to grab the ball with his bare hand while falling onto his back and threw it to first base to secure the out.

This was one of the wildest defensive plays we’ll witness this year, but Martin is no stranger to fielding his position. Earlier in the season, he successfully caught a couple of balls hit directly at him.
