It’s time to turn the page to the 2024-25 season. After a strong season where the Flyers exceeded expectations, a productive offseason is crucial. With key players available, here are some potential offseason targets for the Flyers and their possible impact on the team.

Flyers Offseason Targets: Who’s On Their Radar?

Following a disappointing end to the 2023-24 NHL season, the Flyers aim to add key pieces to elevate their performance. Despite narrowly missing the playoffs after holding a playoff spot for much of the season, Philadelphia enjoyed a good season in the ‘New Era Of Orange,’ giving fans renewed hope.

The Flyers exceeded expectations last season with 38 wins—seven more than the previous season—and 87 points, surpassing their 2023 total by 12 points. Although they just missed the playoffs, the team appears to be a few pieces away from a breakthrough. Several names have been linked to them since the season ended.

About Last Season: Martin Necas - Canes Country

Tanner Jeannot

The 27-year-old forward, acquired by Tampa Bay, could be on the move. Tampa Bay paid a high price for Jeannot and now seeks to recoup assets. They re-signed him after the 2023 season for two years at $5.33 million, but he hasn’t fit well with the Lightning. In 75 games with Tampa, he has only tallied 18 points (8g, 10a). However, he showed promise in the NHL with 41 points (24g, 17a) for Nashville in the 2021-22 season.

The Lightning want to offload his big contract, and Jeannot seeks a fresh start. The Flyers could be a good fit for him, as several young players who struggled with their first teams have thrived in Philadelphia. Owen Tippett, for example, had difficulties with the Panthers but has since become a proven NHL player with the Flyers. They believe Jeannot could have a similar impact and help them reach the postseason.

Martin Necas

Another target for the Flyers is Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas, who has been mentioned in trade rumors. The 25-year-old center, a top candidate for the Flyers, would provide much-needed depth. Last season, Necas scored 53 points (24g, 29a) in 77 games, making him a strong candidate to boost the Flyers’ lineup.

Necas could move from a third-liner to a first-liner with more minutes, improving his numbers. In his short career of 362 games, the Czech forward has amassed 243 points (97g, 146a). However, like Jeannot, Necas is a pending restricted free agent, meaning the Flyers would need to negotiate a trade.

While the Flyers are interested in Necas, Carolina is also seeking suitable trade partners. No significant progress has been made, but Flyers fans would be delighted to see Necas in orange and black next season.
