After acquiring Zach Eflin from the Tampa Bay Rays to strengthen their rotation, the Orioles are still exploring the market for offensive upgrades.

Although Baltimore showed interest in Tommy Pham from the Chicago White Sox, Pham was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday afternoon, removing him from their options.

Now, a similar target the Orioles could be pursuing is Kevin Pillar of the Los Angeles Angels. According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Pillar could be a good fit for Baltimore.

“In the outfield, the Orioles added Cristian Pache in the Hays deal, along with reliever Seranthony Domínguez,” Rosenthal noted. “Pache is a right-handed hitter, but his career batting average is .179. A role player such as Tommy Pham or Kevin Pillar would help provide greater balance. All of the Orioles’ other outfielders are left-handed except Anthony Santander, a switch-hitter.”

Pillar, 35, is currently slashing .287/ .343/ .481 this season with seven home runs in 181 at-bats. With experience playing for nine teams in his career, he would bring valuable expertise to an Orioles clubhouse aiming for a World Series run.
