The Baltimore Orioles have bolstered their roster with additional players for their postseason run.
Early on Tuesday, the Orioles acquired left-handed pitcher Trevor Rogers from the Miami Marlins. Later in the day, they made another move just before the deadline, acquiring relief pitcher Gregory Soto from the Philadelphia Phillies, as announced by the team.
In exchange for Soto, Baltimore sent pitchers Moises Chace and Seth Johnson to the Phillies.
Soto, 29, was an All-Star closer for Detroit in 2021 and 2022. The Phillies acquired him in a trade with the Tigers in 2023, though he hasn’t performed as well for them. He posted a 5-8 record with a 4.42 ERA over 95.2 innings with the Phillies, including a 4.08 ERA this season, while still recording 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings.
Baltimore’s bullpen will now include Soto alongside Craig Kimbrel and Seranthony Dominguez.
