Michigan has earned a reputation as “Tight End University” in recent years, and the Wolverines have made the shortlist for another top tight end prospect.
Currently, Michigan has secured two commitments for the 2026 recruiting class: quarterback Brady Hart and cornerback Brody Jennings, both solid four-star recruits. While still finalizing their 2025 class, Michigan is also focusing on bringing in top-tier talent for the 2026 cycle.
The Wolverines have developed a strong tradition at the tight end position, producing talents like Jake Butt, Erick All, Luke Schoonmaker, AJ Barner, and Colston Loveland. This track record is likely to attract high school tight ends looking to follow in their footsteps.
Blessed to be in this position, thank you to all the coaches that have believed in me and have taken the time to recruit me throughout this process!! #AGTG 🙏🏼@patricketherton @AllenTrieu @adamgorney @GregSmithRivals @EDGYTIM @SWiltfong_ pic.twitter.com/S26JiY6OmV

Recently, 2026 four-star tight end JC Anderson narrowed his list to 10 teams, with Michigan making the cut. The Wolverines will compete with Auburn, Illinois, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, and Texas for his commitment.
Anderson, a 6-foot-6 tight end from Mt Zion, IL, is ranked 129th overall and is the fifth-best tight end in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives Illinois a 29% chance of landing Anderson, with Michigan in fourth place at 7.5%.
With the ’26 cycle still a year away, Michigan has ample time to bring Anderson to campus and secure his commitment. The Wolverines are expected to feature one of the best tight ends in 2024 with Colston Loveland playing a key role in their passing game.
