“We’re excited to partner with Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks and introduce the franchise to Central Florida,” said J.T. McWalters, Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships for the Magic. “Both of our organizations value teamwork, and we’re eager to work with Big Dave’s first Florida franchise and its new owner, Derek Lewis. We look forward to connecting Big Dave’s with our community and offering our fans a taste of their renowned cheesesteaks.”

The collaboration will include brand integrations such as in-arena signage at all Magic home games and food offerings within the Kia Center. There will be a concession stand on the promenade level and a food cart on the terrace level.

Derek Lewis, Big Dave’s first franchise owner, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the cheesesteak brand to Orlando’s vibrant sports and entertainment scene. “Partnering with the Orlando Magic and Kia Center is a fantastic opportunity to combine top-notch food with exciting basketball. We’re set to open on October 11 during the preseason, marking the start of what I believe will be a transformative presence in the arena. As the initial franchise owner, I’m dedicated to delivering the quality and flavor that Derrick Hayes is known for, while creating a unique experience for Magic fans and visitors. This venture isn’t just about great cheesesteaks; it’s about building community, celebrating diversity, and enhancing the electric atmosphere of the Orlando Magic. Get ready, Orlando – we’re about to elevate your game day experience!”

Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks plans to expand with ten locations across Central Florida. The chain, founded by Derrick Hayes, began in 2016 in Dunwoody, Georgia, where it started as a small 700-square-foot gas station named Dave’s Philly Water Ice. Since then, it has grown to six locations, including one in North Carolina and five in Georgia, with several in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and is now making its way to Florida.
