During his weekly press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided updates on the status of wide receivers Tyler Brown and Adam Randall, both of whom are recovering from injuries.
Tyler Brown, a sophomore, sustained a high ankle sprain early in Clemson’s game against Appalachian State on September 7. After missing the following game against NC State, Brown has played only sparingly in subsequent victories over Stanford and Florida State. Coach Swinney acknowledged that Brown’s injury has kept him out longer than expected but expressed optimism about his potential. Swinney pointed out that, despite no one asking about Brown’s status lately, the young receiver is set to become a significant asset for the Tigers once he is fully recovered.
“Nobody even asks me about Tyler Brown,” Swinney said. “But y’all will eventually, if we can ever get him healthy. He is going to be a great player, but everything kind of went good for him last year and he has been battling to get back. Hopefully, he can truly have a full week of practice this week and take another step forward.”
Meanwhile, junior wide receiver Adam Randall has been dealing with a stress fracture in his toe. Randall underwent surgery, having a screw inserted into his toe to aid the healing process. This injury kept him out of Clemson’s last two games, but despite his eagerness to play, the coaching staff has been cautious with his return. Randall was able to travel with the team to Florida State, and although he participated in pre-game warmups, he did not see action in the game.
Swinney highlighted Randall’s readiness and determination to get back on the field. “We got Adam back, which is amazing,” Swinney said. “He was ready to go last week. I was really nervous about it, but he was adamant to play. I am glad we did not need him.”
With both players showing signs of improvement, Clemson hopes to have a healthier receiving corps moving forward. Brown is expected to have a full week of practice, and Randall is nearing a return to game action. Their contributions could be crucial as Clemson heads into the heart of its season.
Clemson will be back in action this Saturday with a road game against Wake Forest in Winston Salem, N.C., where the team will look to build on its recent momentum. Both Brown and Randall could potentially play key roles in helping the Tigers continue their winning streak.
