The Washington Commanders have officially released defensive end Justin Hollins from their practice squad, leaving an open spot on the unit.
Hollins, 28, was initially selected by the Denver Broncos as the 156th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.8 million rookie contract that included a $305,725 signing bonus. However, the Broncos waived Hollins in 2020, and he was quickly picked up by the Los Angeles Rams. After his stint with the Rams, Hollins was waived again and claimed by the Green Bay Packers.
Hollins re-signed with the Packers for the 2023 season but was eventually released. He had a brief period with the New York Giants before being signed off their practice squad by the Los Angeles Chargers. In August 2024, Hollins joined the Commanders, but he didn’t make it past the final roster cuts coming out of training camp.
Throughout the 2023 season, Hollins played in a total of 12 games for the Packers, Giants, and Chargers, contributing 17 total tackles and one sack. Now, with his release from Washington’s practice squad, Hollins once again finds himself navigating the NFL’s free-agent market, looking for his next opportunity.
