Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills after suffering a knee injury during practice earlier this week. Burks, who was a first-round draft pick in 2022, sustained the injury on Wednesday and did not participate in practice on Thursday or Friday. Titans head coach Brian Callahan confirmed Burks’ absence and indicated that there’s a possibility Burks could be placed on injured reserve, which would force him to miss at least four games.
Callahan mentioned that the team is still evaluating the extent of Burks’ injury and waiting for further input from medical professionals. However, the situation appears serious enough that Burks will be sidelined for a significant period. “It will be some time, no matter what. How long, we’ll see. We’re not totally sure yet,” Callahan said, hinting at the potential for an extended absence.
Burks, who has started in two of the Titans’ five games this season, has only four receptions for 34 yards on eight targets. Since being drafted 18th overall in 2022 out of Arkansas, Burks has recorded 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown in 27 career games, including 17 starts.
In addition to Burks, two other key Titans players—running back Tyjae Spears and defensive lineman Keondre Coburn—will also miss Sunday’s game against the Bills. Spears, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, has been a reliable backup, contributing 114 yards and one touchdown on 33 carries this season, along with 12 receptions for 76 yards. The rookie running back was drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Tulane and has made an impact in his first season with the team.
Coburn, a defensive lineman, has played in four games this season and has been dealing with a knee injury. The Titans acquired Coburn from the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft. He has registered two tackles so far this season but will be out of action as the Titans continue to struggle with injuries across multiple positions.
The Titans, currently sitting at 1-4, are facing an uphill battle against the 4-2 Bills. The loss of Burks, Spears, and Coburn is a significant blow as the team looks to find some stability amidst a difficult season. As they approach Sunday’s game, the Titans will need to rely on their remaining depth to keep pace with a strong Bills team.
