The Tennessee Titans have entered a selling phase, having already traded star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, and more players are expected to follow. One key player being discussed as a potential trade candidate is defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day. According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, Joseph-Day could be a fit for the San Francisco 49ers, a team with a need at defensive tackle following Javon Hargrave’s season-ending injury.

Knox notes that Joseph-Day is a logical trade target for the 49ers, as he previously played for them and contributed during their playoff run, including Super Bowl LVIII. With Hargrave out for the season, San Francisco may need reinforcements in the defensive line, making Joseph-Day an appealing option.

Originally signed by the Titans in a significant free agency move, Joseph-Day has not had the desired impact for Tennessee in 2024. Through the first six games of the season, he has recorded 15 tackles and two sacks. While not a superstar, Joseph-Day is known for his ability to stuff the run, making him a valuable piece for any team looking to strengthen their defensive line.

Before joining the Titans, Joseph-Day was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and later played for the Los Angeles Chargers. His best season came in 2022, when he posted 56 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery with the Chargers. While he may not be an elite player, his productivity and experience would make him a solid acquisition for a team in playoff contention, such as the 49ers.

As the trade deadline approaches, it’s expected that the Titans may make further moves to dismantle their current roster. There are even reports of wide receiver Calvin Ridley being a potential trade candidate, though moving him might prove challenging due to the nature of his contract.

The next few weeks will likely see Tennessee making significant decisions regarding their roster, as they look to rebuild and position themselves for future success.
