The Cincinnati Bengals faced a challenging 2024 season, ending with a 9-8 record despite high expectations, particularly after their successful 2022 campaign and disappointing 2023 performance. A key factor in their struggles was quarterback Joe Burrow’s injuries, but wide receiver Tee Higgins still had an impressive year, recording 73 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, underlining his importance as one of the team’s top offensive weapons. However, with the Bengals failing to make the playoffs and ongoing contract negotiations looming, Higgins’ future in Cincinnati is uncertain.

Higgins, reportedly seeking a contract in the range of $20 to $30 million per year, could become a casualty of the Bengals’ financial situation, which already includes several major financial commitments to other players. As a result, speculation has increased about his potential departure, and Pro Football Focus (PFF) has identified three teams as potential destinations for the talented wideout: the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and Las Vegas Raiders.

Each of these teams shares two key traits: substantial cap space and a significant need for a playmaking wide receiver to help their respective offenses. The Washington Commanders, led by rookie quarterback Drake Maye, are in dire need of offensive weapons to support their young signal-caller. The New England Patriots, armed with ample cap space, have the financial flexibility to outbid other teams for Higgins’ services. Similarly, the Las Vegas Raiders, looking to strengthen their receiving corps, could be a viable landing spot for Higgins as they continue their roster overhaul.

PFF noted that each of these franchises, under new management, could offer Higgins both a chance to be the focal point of their offense and a lucrative contract. While such a move would be a step forward in Higgins’ career, it would be a major setback for the Bengals, who would lose a key part of their offense. If the Bengals fail to retain Higgins, they would need to find a suitable replacement to preserve their offensive firepower, which could be a significant challenge.

As his future remains uncertain, the Bengals must act quickly to secure a deal with Higgins. If they fail to do so, they risk losing one of their most valuable assets to one of the many teams eager to add his talents to their roster.
