A Wests Tigers prospect was discovered at training with an ice pack on his ankle less than ten days before the first round of the preseason challenge.
Forward Samuela Fainu was observed hobbling across the field on Thursday during the team’s training session while wearing an ice pack around his ankle.
The extent of the injury is still unknown, although it appears to be mild, and he was recruited from the Manly Sea Eagles. He should be available for selection to the team next week.
Although he didn’t hit the field until after the training session was over, injured playmaker Adam Douiehi was also observed. He was seen kicking the ball to a member of the coaching staff while recovering from his third ACL injury in his left knee.
Doueihi will probably miss much of the upcoming season due to a knee injury sustained in Round 6 against the Parramatta Eels. He is unlikely to play again until the middle of the season.
With the additions of Jayden Sullivan, Aidan Sezer, Latu Fainu, and Lachlan Galvin, his future at the team is still uncertain. He is free to negotiate with the Tigers and other teams at the end of the season, although his contract is still up.
